Same Old Sameold

I got the rest of the trees and shrubs into the ground tonight (another big thank you to Dave for helping). There were only 4 this time, one more crabapple (malus sargentii "Candymint," another viburnum (Northern Burgundy) and 2 more flowering currants (another Hannaman's White and a King Edward VII). It's starting to look like it might look okay someday, providing I do a lot more work.

I also started working on the cover to my schedule. I do decoupage, though not in the way people generally think about it. Mine is more collages of color and texture than imagery. I love cool papers, so I have HUGE amounts of them in my office, and I make collages of them on cigar boxes and smaller boxes and calendars, etc. (I'll post an example from my portfolio here as soon as I can get a copy of the picture from Dave. It's on his computer.) All last year, my schedule was between two pieces of cardboard because I intended to "do something cool." Today, I started. I'm using this beautiful dyed paper that's all purples and blues and greens with swirls and splashes of gold paint. I think it will look pretty good.

This afternoon I "organized" my office (the one at home) and got some stuff ready for the 2 independent projects I'll be doing next spring (might as well start now, while I have the time). I need to make some time to clean and decorate the office at school before classes start.

I also finalized my monologue choices for the OSF auditions. Hermione from A Winter's Tale and Margie from Loose Knit by Theresa Rebeck. I've done both of them before, but Hermione has been lying fallow for several years, and I've been working Margie on and off this year. I think they'll be a good combination. I was going to do Helena from All's Well That Ends Well, but I strike one pose in it that is almost identical to something I do in the Margie piece, and I haven't been able to find any decent contemporary comedic monologues, so I decided to find a new Shakespeare piece instead. At least I know what to work on. Now I just need to figure out what kind of animal Hermione is (or plant, Imogen from Cymbeline turned out to be a climbing rose bereft of support).

I think maybe for next year I'll do Lady M (unless I'm cast to play that role this spring), and Rosaline from Love's Labour's Lost,. I get extra audition time in 2005 because I'll actually be eligible for the fellowship that year. I'll just have to start looking now for something new in the contemporary line. Maybe something of Josie's from Moon for the Misbegotten. I really love that play.

And just because I miss him: sunnysunrise.jpg

So I just really wanted to post on someone's blog so I can feel "with it" and "cool." (Are those terms in anyone's vocabulary any more?)

By reading your posts, I see the road not traveled. By me, anyway. I am so conventional and boring. Got the house (two, right now--want to buy a house?), the husband, the two required kids. Only thing I don't have is the string of pearls and the dog. And I don't make apple pie. It will say on my gravestone "She was here and now's she gone. She didn't do much--so long!"

I'm actually not depressed; just maudlin at the moment.

'nuf about me. When was the last time you were in Boise?
