Say Hello to My Little Friend

I got a new cell phone today. It's a Sprint Lotus. It's a flip phone with a QWERTY keyboard and web access so I can check my email without losing three hours online.

That is the phone that I literally have been drooling after for months now. My mother got it yesterday. And I played with it and I want it more now!

I am really, really jealous and also happy for you.

OH it's super cute. LOVE IT! Congrats!

It looks amazing. Lucky you!

Very cute!

My phone is a super old Nokia that I have to fight my provider to keep. I can drop this thing into a puddle, have it shatter into eighteen pieces, and it still works. It is like the cockroach of cell phones. Which means that is is not nearly as fancy looking as yours...

It is cute. I find myself stroking it and cooing at it occasionally, because it's so lovely.

Eris - Did you know that they've managed to breed a hot pink cockroach at one of the Texas universities? (I don't recall which one.) Maybe you could spiffy yours up a bit. My old Sprint Katana was kind of bland until I added the pink rhinestones.

Ok, I just realized you must have the twin of my phone if you had a katana because that is what I have now. Our similarity of phone tastes is making me giggle.

Ah, but does yours have pink rhinestones on it?

My Katana was awesome. I didn't think I'd ever find a phone I would like as much as I liked it. And yet, I like my Lotus more.

My Katana is the blue one original recipie, and I have not added any fanciness to it, but I do like it a lot so much so that only way after it was a year old did I realize gosh I have had this phone a long time. Then later did I go, it is getting pretty beat up, it would be nice to have a pretty replacement for it. And then I saw lotus IN PURPLE!!! And then I began to covet it and check its page and price and scorn it for being ridiculously expensive (comparatively to my budget which requires the phone be next to free and therefore most anything is out of the budget).

Sheesh. I'm so gadget-retarded I don't even get the gloriousness of it. Sorry. I realize it's wonderful in that way that people gush on about their fabulous technology. I just feel embarassed and hide under the tablecloth since I am a total throwback to the fifties. It must be because you're married to Dave. Or were you gadgetGidget pre-Dave?

Posted by: OohLaLaura at February 4, 2009 10:09 AM

It's all Dave. Pre-Dave I didn't even have a computer, much less a cell phone. Now I have two laptops, a digital camera, a Kindle and this awesome new phone. Also a PSP and three MP3 players. And both an inkjet (home office) and a laser printer (in my office at school). And a battery-powered clock that picks the time signal up from the nuclear clock in Colorado. and a digital outdoor thermometer. And a Volvo. And a coffee grinder.

As you can see, he's changed my life.
