Summer Favorites
I've been thinking about this a lot lately, the things I love about this all too brief yet wonderful season. I thought I'd share them with you in hopes that they'd remind you of your own favorite summer things.
Sights
Butterflies
Roses
Sunlight
Kids at lemonade stands
Colorful summer outfits
"Dead" cats in sunbeams
Sounds
Lawnmowers
Birdsong
Car radios
Smells
Cottonwoods
Mock orange
Roses
Ripe berries
Freshly mowed lawns
Tastes
Pacifico and lime
Fresh (straw-, rasp-, black-)berries exploding on my tongue.
Grilled burgers
Potato salad
Root beer
Popsicles
Tomatoes straight off the vine
Touches
Sun on my face, shoulders, arms
Light breezes
Cotton sheets, chilly nights and morning sunshine
Experiences
Outdoor performances of any kind, theatre (though only if I'm also doing some), jazz, classical. It just doesn't matter. There's something really wonderful about live performances under the sky.
How much less time it takes to get dressed when all you need is a tank top and a pair of shorts. Instead of leggings, jeans, socks, boots, undershirt, shell, jacket and a change of sweater for when you get to campus. I love the easiness of dressing in the summer.
Drive-in movies.
That's the short list. I'm sure there's so much more I haven't thought of. Those are just the bits that come to mind right now.
What are your summer favorites?
