Full Day
Today was an extremely full day. It seemed like I just went and went and went and went and went until I sat down to have dinner around 7:30. So I'm tired, but it's the good kind of tired. The tired you feel after you accomplish something. And I did.
I did a TON of research (because I couldn't find the name of a specific artist) and then posted an entry on Chicagosity. I sent my final email as dialect coach of the show I've been working on. I shopped for groceries at two stores and schlepped seven bags of groceries up the stairs. It took two trips. Then I cooked, baked, prepped, froze, basically did all kinds of food work in the kitchen.
I made bread pudding with leftover bread from my dinner last night. Dairy-free bread pudding. And it's AWESOME. I roasted beets & fennel to top a salad with and then ended up eating a big bowlful of just that as part of dinner. I baked a chicken breast in parchment and while I was at it, cleaned and trimmed the other five breasts in the package and put them in the freezer in individual ziplock baggies to pull out and use when I need to. I made some awesome homefries.
And I washed TONS of dishes. No exaggeration. I washed the breakfast dishes, I washed the lunch dishes. I washed the bread pudding and veggie roasting prep dishes. And the dinner dishes, both the prep and the eating dishes. I washed a LOT of dishes today. Some of them multiple times. Like the cutting boards after chopping garlic, avocado, beets, fennel and potatoes. I have two cutting boards that are the same size, they're really handy in this kitchen, with the limited counter space. But I couldn't chop the avocado after the garlic, because they weren't going in the same dish. And I couldn't mince the garlic after the beets because it would have turned pink. Ditto the potatoes. And then in the middle of bagging the chicken, I dripped raw chicken juice on one of the cutting boards. So. As I said, I washed a LOT of dishes today.
But. I don't have to do much cooking for the next several days now. Because I have all kinds of food ready to eat in the fridge. I can just pull containers out and dig in. Though I did get some more bison to use in sloppy joes. That last batch was just too good.
What didn't I do today? Work on my NaNo Novel. It was in the plan, in the schedule. But three hours of research on something that shouldn't have been that hard, followed by three hours of food preparation in the kitchen plus at least 90 minutes of dish washing time, and my schedule was shot to hell. Tomorrow, though, tomorrow I shall get up, have some bread pudding and coffee for breakfast, pack up my laptop and head down to the local coffee shop, where I shall write until I can write no more and hopefully get caught up (and maybe even ahead) again.
Here's to getting back on track and maybe even another full day.
